{"id":578,"date":"2012-12-16T16:06:33","date_gmt":"2012-12-16T16:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/w2pa.net\/HRH\/?page_id=578"},"modified":"2013-08-28T14:30:23","modified_gmt":"2013-08-28T14:30:23","slug":"acknowledgements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"http:\/\/w2pa.net\/HRH\/acknowledgements\/","title":{"rendered":"Acknowledgements"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I would like to acknowledge the work of a few fellow hams who have contributed to this site, and thank them for their continuing efforts.\u00a0 They each have an interest in ham radio history, shown in different, interesting ways:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.w1ja.com\" target=\"_blank\">W1JA:<\/a>\u00a0 John is an <a href=\"http:\/\/www.radiophile.com\">antique radio<\/a> collector and expert, as well as a skilled writer and editor. I thank him for his helpful suggestions about the overall site design.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.qrz.com\/db\/W2SQ\" target=\"_blank\">W2SQ:<\/a>\u00a0 Phil not only has a complete, unbuilt, Heathkit SB-series station from the 1970s, but he also has a beautifully library-bound collection of <em>QST<\/em> volumes dating back to 1919. Thus, Phil is the primary source of digital photographs of printed photos (as opposed to scans) used on this site. Most of the illustrations you see in the chapters are from W2SQ.<\/p>\n<p>John and Phil are my primary co-editors and proofreaders.\u00a0 Both are skilled editors with a passion for correct writing. They read, comment on, catch mistakes, and suggest edits to every posting that appears here.\u00a0 I am indebted to them for the time they spend carefully considering, then contributing to both the style and substance of this site. If you&#8217;re interested in such things, we&#8217;ve adopted the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chicagomanualofstyle.org\/home.html\" target=\"_blank\">Chicago Manual of Style<\/a> as the guide for editing this site.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.qrz.com\/db\/K1RT\" target=\"_blank\">K1RT:<\/a>\u00a0 Ed owns two complete <em>QST<\/em> collections. He has helpfully provided high quality scans of <em>QST<\/em> illustrations, particularly from the very early years.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/k1dg.webs.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">K1DG:<\/a>\u00a0 Doug also owns a complete <em>QST<\/em> collection, including the rare post-WW1, 8-page &#8220;Special Bulletin&#8221;, sent out just before <em>QST<\/em> re-started after the war.\u00a0 Doug has provided excellent scans of interesting <em>QST<\/em> illustrations back to the beginning.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-455\" alt=\"AR sep sm\" src=\"http:\/\/w2pa.net\/HRH\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/AR-sep-sm.bmp\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">de W2PA<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!-- K1RT:\u00a0 Ed has not one but two complete QST collections.\u00a0 I thank him for also providing scans of <em>QST<\/em> illustrations going back to the very beginning.\n\nK1DG:\u00a0 One of the top contesters in the world, Doug has an in-depth understanding of the roots of that corner of amateur radio and has provided me with valuable insights and pointed out interesting facts not normally found in the usual references.\n--><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I would like to acknowledge the work of a few fellow hams who have contributed to this site, and thank them for their continuing efforts.\u00a0 They each have an interest in ham radio history, shown in different, interesting ways: W1JA:\u00a0 John is an antique radio collector and expert, as well as a skilled writer and editor.
